In 2024 we are planning a discovery tour in northern Bohemia to discover and better understand the origins of glass and its production.
As glassworkers work during the week, and early in the day, we have planned to begin a bit earlier in the week than usual. Our suggested programme is to be as below, with exact details being determined closer to the date.
In general, we plan to visit glass blowers, cutters, painters, glass-fusing and other producers. No palaces but likely a museum or two to round things out. It will most certainly be a learning experience for everyone participating, even when they already know the area, and a not-to-be-missed opportunity for anyone that has not yet had the chance to visit this region.
Wednesday, 12th June
Individual arrival for the group in Jablonec nad Nisou, at 17:00 or earlier. (Earlier is recommended!)
Check in at Hotel Na Baste
Early arrivals can visit the Muzeum Skla a Bizouterie (Museum of Glass and Jewellery). The museum is really world class with very informative exhibitions about glass production from the region.

14:00 Departure to Skalice near Novy Bor, visit to TGK Glasfusing – also in Novy Bor with guided tour

Programme Entwurf Light & Glass Jahrestreffen, Nordböhmen 12. – 15. Juni 2024
Eine Entdeckungstour in Nord Böhmen um die Entstehung von Glas und seine Produktion besser zu verstehen.
Da die Glasmacher unter der Woche und früh am Tag arbeiten, haben wir geplant, etwas früher in der Woche als üblich zu beginnen. Unser vorgeschlagenes Programm sieht wie folgt aus, wobei die genauen Einzelheiten erst kurz vor dem Termin festgelegt werden.
Im Allgemeinen planen wir den Besuch von Glasbläsern, Glasschleifern, Glasmalern, Glasfusing und anderen Herstellern. Keine Paläste, aber wahrscheinlich ein oder zwei Museen, um das Programm abzurunden. Es wird mit Sicherheit eine lehrreiche Erfahrung für alle Teilnehmer, auch wenn sie schon einmal da waren, und eine nicht zu verpassende Gelegenheit für alle, die noch keine Gelegenheit hatten, diese Region zu erkunden.

Früh ankommende Teilnehmer können das Muzeum Skla a Bizouterie (Museum für Glas und Schmuck) besuchen. Das Museum ist wirklich Weltklasse mit sehr informativen Ausstellungen über Glasproduktion von der Region.
