Eliaska – a Utopian Project?
Already in Gargas this last year during our Yearly Meeting, we had the privilege to be able to be introduced to Tereza Svachova’s work on the project Eliaska. Her Father, Jaroslav Svacha gave us a preview of her work on a project involving the heritage building of the old Chandelier Factory Elias Palme in Kamenicky Senov, CZ (Steinschönau).
The Elias Palme Factory was one of the most famous manufacturers of crystal chandeliers in all Bohemia and had a long history of chandelier production in Kamenicky Senov starting in 1849. Their chandeliers were shipped to addresses around the world. Unfortunately after the company closed down in 1972, the factory fell in to disrepair and today, although being listed as an important building for the cultural heritage of the Czech Republic, it is virtually a ruin. There are no plaques to bring it to the attention of visitors to the area, it is overgrown and plastic trash containers block the view of the once magnificent factory built in 1905.
Inspired by her father’s work in the lighting industry, Tereza took an interest in the building and has used it as a basis for her final project in her study of architecture. She has delved through the archives in Kamenicky Senov and Litomerice to trace the history of the building. For her work on the project she has received awards and acclamation.
We would like to share her video and the outlines of her plans for the site here on Light and Glass as she has included in her plans the first ever “Chandelier Museum” and an office for Light and Glass.

ELIASKA – ein Projekt der Utopie?
Schon im Vorjahr in Gargas bei unserer Jahresversammlung, hatten wir Gelegenheit in das Eliaska-Projekt von Tereza Svachova eingeführt zu werden. Ihr Vater, Jaroslav Svacha gab uns eine Vorschau auf ihre Arbeit die das alte, denkmalgeschützte Gebäude der alten Lusterfabrik Elias Palme in Steinschönau (Kamenicky Senov) betrifft.
Die Elias Palme Fabrik war eine der berühmtesten Manufakturen von Kristall-Lustern in ganz Böhmen und hatte in Kamenicky Senov eine lange Geschichte in der Kristallluster- Luster Herstellung, die auf 1849 zurückreichte. Deren Produkte gingen über die ganze Welt. Bedauerlicher Weise, verfiel die Fabrik nach deren Schließung im Jahr 1972. Heute, trotz der Wichtigkeit für das kulturelle Erbe der Tschechischen Republik ist der Gebäudekomplex so gut wie eine Ruine. Es gibt keine Hinweistafel, die es dem Besucher der Region Hinweis geben, das Grundstück ist verwachsen, Plastikmüllcontainer verwehren den Blick auf das einstmals bedeutende Fabrikgebäude das 1905 errichtet wurde.
Angeregt durch die Arbeiten des Vaters für die Lusterindustrie in der Region, begann Tereza sich für das Gebäude zu interessieren und benützte es als Abschlussprojekt für ihr Architekturstudium. Sie hat die Archive von Kamenicky Senov und von Litomerice durchstöbert, um die Geschichte des Baus zu ergründen. Für ihre Arbeit am Projekt hat sie Preise und höchste Anerkennung erfahren.
Wir würden gerne ihre Videos, sowie die Grundgedanken ihrer Pläne nun hier auf „Light & Glass“ mit ihr teilen, da sie in Ihrem Konzept ein weltweit erstes „Luster-Museum“ sowie ein Sekretariat für „Light & Glass“ eingeplant hat.

Eliáška – Utopický projekt?
Již loňský rok v Gargasu během našeho každoročního setkání jsme měli tu čest seznámit se s prací Terezy Šváchové na projektu Eliáška. V zastoupení jejího otce, Jaroslava Šváchy nám byla představena její architektonická studie týkající se památkově chráněné staré továrny na výrobu lustrů Elias Palme v Kamenickém Šenově (Steinschönau).
Firma Elias Palme byla jednou z nejslavnějších továren na výrobu ověsových lustrů v Čechách. Její historie v Kamenickém Šenově sahá až do roku 1849. Budova byla bohužel v roce 1972 opuštěna a od té doby nenávratně chátrá. Přestože byla prohlášena za kulturní památku a zařazena na listinu ohrožených budov, je z ní dnes ruina. Bohužel zde chybí i jakákoliv faktická připomínka v podobě informační tabule upozorňující kolemjdoucí na jedinečnou stavbu, která byla postavena v roce 1905. Nehledě na to, že dechberoucí pohled na hlavní průčelí budovy hyzdí nevzhledné plastové kontejnery na odpad.
Tereza se zhlédla v práci svého otce, který se sám pohybuje ve sklářském prostředí a rozhodla se, že Eliáška bude ústředním tématem diplomové práce, která měla ukončit její studium na Fakultě architektury. Tak se také nakonec stalo a za svůj projekt dostala uznání a ocenění.
Chtěli bychom zde s Vámi sdílet její video prezentaci, kde v krátkosti nastíní její plány pro vůbec první muzeum lustrů na světě, do kterého zahrnula i kanceláře a zázemí Light and Glass.
Video je v angličtině, portfolio k projektu zatím v češtině, na jeho anglickém překladu se již pracuje.

My v Light and Glass chceme Terezu a její projekt podpořit jak jen to bude možné a doufáme, že společně dokážeme utopii proměnit v realitu.
